Dokken - Tooth and Nail (1984)

This album from Dokken is one of the most classic heavy metal albums for you to download for your collection. Dokken's status as a "metal band" is contentious. It was in the 80's amongst those brought up in the Paul Baloff thrash philosophy of "If it's glam it's shit" or many clueless modern day rock fans who for some reason believe Glam and Metal are 2 mutually exclusive entities. Whether or not Dokken are a metal band is irrelevant, the fact of the matter is this album by Dokken is METAL.

The influence from Judas Priest and other early 80's metal albums is clear to hear from the riffs on the majority of this album. This album holds up as Dokken's best album and maybe the best album from the whole glam metal movement. The quality of songwriting and catchyness is exceptional and if you're not interested in catchyness or melody just listen to the RIFFS. Barely anything on here is filler and you can play it through without needing to consider the skip button. Well worth a download.

Album highlights include of course the title track and my favourite "Don't Close Your Eyes". "Into The Fire" is great, as is "Just Got Lucky" and one of the best power ballads in "Alone Again". Bah it's all great. Again, if you hate AOR/soulful vocals then Don Dokken's voice will grate on you, however for me and hordes of other metalheads Dokken were the best thing that came out of the LA glam movement. Check out a music download of the tracks I recommended and buy it from amazon if you dig.
