Spain have largely been a spectator when it comes to the world of old Heavy Metal classics, Baron Rojo are in some people's minds an exception, being the classic NWOBHM influenced headbanging darlings of the land(I've never really rated them that high tho!). However, Legion's first album is an album I enjoy spinning now and then. A competent and enjoyable slab of thrash where they show their appreciation for the bay area scene proudly on their sleeves. There's clear love for early Metallica and influence in the sombre guitar melodies, epic themes and the guitar sound but delivered with a rougher production and vocals more gravelly and not squeaky like Hetfield's classic bark and the songs also have a nice display of gang vocals Exodus/Death Angel style.

Standouts include the title track, "Rhythm Rider", "Dark Force" and the fun jig "Mili K.K.". Overall you could do a lot worse for a 1989 thrash release. Nothing amazing but still well worth checking out if you like thrash, especially if you love the bay area bands. Just a shame it's as rare as a solar eclipse...
