Agent Steel - Unstoppable Force (1987)

This power/speed metal album from Los Angeles band Agent Steel is a must have download. On Agent Steel's second full length they definitely come on leaps and bounds after the respectable but one dimensional debut "Skeptics Apocalypse". The songs have more epic power metal and also branch out into thrashier territory with heavier riffs, and John Cyriis is just as maniacal here as on their debut record coming off sounding like Rob Halford on crack and he's the factor that tends to get polarised opinions on the band's 80's era, where people love or hate them for his voice. It is an acquired taste but one which is well worth acquiring. Definitely give this record a whirl by checking out downloads of some of the tracks.

None of the songs here fall below the "above average" mark and it's pretty much a blast from start to finish and ranges from mid paced belters like "Rager" and "Never Surrender" to the epic passages of "Chosen To Stay" and "Still Searching" to the warp speed trailblazers of "Indestructive" and "Nothin' Left". There's everything a growing metal boy needs on this album. Wondering what Priest mixed with classic Metallica sounds like? It's right here...just so long as you dig a more insane version of Halford. Check out a download of the songs I recommended and buy from Amazon if you dig it.
